Description

The history of weaving fulia saree in Bengal may be followed back to 15th century in Nadia district. The craftsmanship kept developing and flourishing over years, but it got due recognition and appreciation in the mid of Mughal reign. During this era, especially the Jamdani and Muslin weaving received huge and illustrious support. But British minimised the production a bit to augment the textile industry and this made the weavers relocate to Bangladesh. But some stayed back in Bengal. And this population has been carrying the legacy of cotton through generations.
